Is this a normal sounding sentence?

As of late, John has been having these ludicrous premonitions, in which he tells us of his desire to marry Selma before asking her father for permission to do so.

A premonition is a feeling that something (often something bad) will happen in the future.
eg As of late, John has been having these ludicrous premonitions that he will tell us of his desire to marry Selma before asking her father for permission to do so.

In your original sentence, I think you perhaps mean a dream.
