A new microbe

Hybadid cystallis, macrocci of roseopetsicina, iso-diametric. I couldn't find these words in my dictionary. Did the writer misspelled these words because his character wasn't a biologist?

I looked online and found it, with the exception that "roseopetsicina" should be "roseopesicina."

But I couldn't find it not even online. Can you share the website?

These things probably exist only in the fertile imagination of O Henry: http://sathyaish.net/stories/ANewMicrobe.aspx

Do you mean these are not standard English words. O Henry created these words to suit his character and story?

Macrocci is macro cocci

Hybadid cystallis is hydatid cystalis which is caused by tapeworm.

Roseopersicina is a bacterium specie.

Isodiametric means round.

Normally hydatid cyst is round and big and cocci is also round shaped. Baccilus is rod shaped.roseopersicina is also round. I think too many mistakes in this lesson.
