"a" necessary in this case?

There's a bumper-to-bumper traffic.
In this sentence, is the article 'a' necessary or should be said "There's bumper-to-bumper traffic." without it?

Don't use the "a." Traffic is not countable.

If you want to describe the traffic which is the subject, you may say something like the following:

* Bumper-to-bumper traffic during the commute hours is a common sight on this stretch of interstate...

But as GG already explained, you can't count traffic as you do with countable
