I've got some questions that I want a native speaker of English to answer them for me...It's all about what it is mostly used, I can literally translate, but I don't want to sound like a foreigner. (between brackets means I'm not sure, please correct my questions as well). THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
1.What question do ask to know the number of stars that a certain hotel has?
I was thinking of these two: How many stars is your hotel? or What is your hotel rating?
2.At my university we register for the courses we want to take during the coming semester on line, please correct my questions as well, so when the registration period starts, is it correct to ask a friend of mine: when does your enrollment window open? I heard that in a movie but I am not sure if I can use it when the registration is done on-line.
3.While registering; sometime the Internet (gets stuck, what is the proper name of/for this case?) because so many people will be using the site at the same time. What do you call such a case? I mean, let's say you want to ask a friend of yours if he has registered for English 303, so his answer would be: not yet; THE CASE...
4.You are trying to register ( a course or for a course?) but the problem is that you have started late so that all section are (full or what do you call it? fully occupied?) now. Means no more available seats for you in any section except in a very late one. So is it correct to say: I had to register English 303 (at?) 6 to 7
5.Is there a name for the process in which you move from one section to another upon your professor approval? And how can you ask a professor to move you from section 1 to 2 for example?
6.Do you need an article? Put your mobile phones on (THE?) silent mode?
7.Your are sitting on a bus or (a? do you need to repeat the article after and & the coordinating conjunctions) plane and the passenger in front of you is sitting with the back of his seat is so close to you, how can you ask him to move his seat back because you are not comfortable? After you ask the passenger to move, he would ask why? Please give me a good response describing your uncomfort.
8.The professor left class after it ended, but you stayed inside because you are still writing what is on the board. Your friend calls, what can you say to tell him what you are doing?
9.On an exam, you got 25 out of 50. I would say: How much did you get?
Can the answer be: I borderlined?
10.what question do ask to what exam your friend is taking tomorrow? Math, history...
THANKS ALOT.
