A name required for a feeling

Hi

Is there any name for a feeling we have when we, for example, are away from our house and we suspect that we left the door unlocked or the TV on, etc. Can I call it a kind of doubt or superstition?

How does the highlighted word sound to you in the given context? Any suggestion is welcome

Oh God, I’m being doubtful/superstitious again! Did I turn off the iron?

Thanks,

Tom

suspicious is wrong for sure. when you are suspicious of sb or about sth , you think sb is a guilty of a crime, or has done sth wrong which has nothing to do with the notion you intend to convey. As for the feeling ,to my mind the best word that fits that context would be uneasy.

It might qualify as premonition.

I usually think of a premonition, however, as thinking about something that hasn't yet happened.

I do that a lot. I check so many things before I leave my house that I forgot what has been checked, and sometimes few miles down the road, I start "second -guessing" myself if I have turned off the coffee pot, or left the window open.

I see no connection thought with the word "supersitition" to what you described. Unsure -maybe!

I would say that the feeling is a nagging feeling and the action you do is as Dim Sum suggests, second guessing yourself.

hrsaneisuspicious is wrong for sure.
But the word mentioned was not "suspicious". It was "superstitious", which is a different word.

Mr. TomOh ***, I’m being doubtful/superstitious obsessive again! Did I turn off the iron?
obsessive is the first word that comes to mind that would provide an appropriate adjective for your sentence, but compulsive might work as well.

Good point.
