A motivational statem for my application

Hi,

I'm interested into study abroad, part of the university's requirements is to write a motivational statement to support my application, I would like if someone could read it and give some feedback. I really appreciate your time.

I really don´t know what is your perception about my country Colombia. Even though is well known for its products such as: coffee, banana, and flowers, and its great biodiversity, unfortunately many people don’t see it in that way. Being born in Colombia represents living with the stigma of the past country’s mistakes, in many countries Colombian are seen as drug dealers, and mules, and Colombia is still seen as a Violent country fill of corruption. In fact, for Colombians is so hard to travel abroad due to many requirements are necessary to be authorized to leave and enter into another country. I’m not pleased with the image of my country and as a Colombian I feel the necessity to try to change that concept. I believe that education is the key. I always thought that education allows us to fly, grow, and to improve as a professional and as a person and I think that is exactly what my country needs, prepared people, ready to made changes, to create job opportunities, and to do research. I truly believe that the future of a country is due to the education that citizens receive. Therefore, it’s really important for me to continue my education.

I have recently discovered what I really like and what I am good at, since then, I have been looking for ways to learn more and to specialize in that field, well, that’s why I found the MOST Program of the Ecole des mines de Nantes and that’s why you find yourself reading these words now. But, since my first year of college and this particular moment many things have happened. Actually, I never thought that I could study in a university. In my last year of school my father told me that I couldn’t continue with my studies because he didn’t have enough money, back then, I saw the opportunity of studying vanishing in from of my eyes. Studying has always been a significant issue. However, it was until I realize that I couldn’t study anymore that I understood how important it really was. You might wonder what happen later. Well, my uncle gave me the opportunity to continue with my studies and to enter into a university, that’s the best gift I have ever receive, that was the particular moment where I knew that it takes a lot of sacrifices and will to pursue your dreams. Thanks to him I’m now an industrial engineer, on the contrary I think that I wouldn’t be writing this letter.

For me being accepted in your school even though it would make my dream come true, it would make a change in my family. My uncle is one of the two people that count with a college degree in my entire family. Nevertheless one of them is not practicing the career studied. Most of my family members both men and women have never had the opportunity to study. In fact females in my family haven end up as teen moms and only a phew of them finished their school while men have initiated a family, many of them are now fathers without enough incoming to support their expenses. I can’t not imagine their future or their kid’s future, without education is impossible to succeed. I don’t want to focus in the fact that my whole family is not affluent, because despite of all that circumstances I have found a way out. Consequently many Colombians are reflected in that picture, lamentably it’s not easy to reach college education and less post graduate education, after all if people don’t receive an opportunity to study how are they going to enroll in a university? If a higher education is not promoted how will a country grow? What’s the future of the world if we don’t believe in people? It’s been a long time since I asked myself this questions because I’m committed to change that reality I want to go further and to help my family.

It’s well known that parents make a huge impact in the future of their sons, in spite of lack of economic resources, my mom taught something that I’ll never forget and it’s that a good intention is always good but a good action is always better, she always cared about people and she joined an elder people association to help them she has an altruistic spirit leaded by thoughts but made of actions. Therefore, I knew that if I really want to achieve something I must act accordingly. Besides my mom inculcates me the same spirit a short time later I decided to join the same association and help elder people too. On the other hand, the university taught me venture, and soon I understood that If I create my own business and provide jobs I would help people to earn an income, It’s a sad reality that in Colombia there is a huge amount of unemployed and that people of certain age is less likely to be hired by a company, and creating my own business will help them.

I may not have the best notes, but I always thought that a professional should not only be measure for his knowledge but for his heart, to make the right decision, to be fair and respect those who didn’t receive the same opportunities, a professional must give an example and guide others in the quest for reaching a goal. For me, it’s not about being just a professional it’s about being a good person and to make a difference.

Finally, entering in your school would help me into accomplish my goals.
