A motivation letter for scholarship ,please help me to review this and let me know my errors before i submit it
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my interest in applying for the master's degree program in Economics for the fall of 2011.First I would like to express my appreciation for this opportunity to apply for the scholarship. I graduated from Ebonyi State University *** with Bsc eons with 3.98 as my CGPA on a scale of 5 points and the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri with National Diploma in Banking & Finance with a grade of 3.28 on a scale of 4 points. Recently, in other to enhance my opportunity to achieve this dream, I have gone ahead to write International Language Test System popularly called IELTS,with the British Council, to test my sound ability in spoken, listening, written and reading abilities of the English language as well as to satisfy the requirement of 6.0 band score. Interestingly, I was able to score 6.5(listening5.5, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.5 and Speaking 7.0) which is above the average band out of the total band score which is 9.Similarly at the final graduating year I wrote on 'Impact of Financial Development on Economic Growth in ***" with reference to 1960-2005 and 'Impact of Merger and Acquisition of the ***** Financial System" with reference to 2008 as my thesis respectively.
With my background knowledge of Economics and Finance, I passionately believe that a master course in Economics will be very good and interestingly relevant to my practice and economically help in the development of my home country ****. Similarly, it is my utmost desire to work in a research based group with applied economics as a working tool as well as in any governmental sector of my country with the major aim to efficiently improving economic research and manpower resource building through any available training. Currently I work with Spanco gks as a business development officer and in time past as a relationship officer in the area of business development department of the defunct Citizens bank of Nigeria and Broad bank of Nigeria respectively.
In the same way, I do hope that my future potential employer especially in the public sector of my country such as state and federal government, local universities and other research based organizations will be a good and ample channel to transfer the garnered knowledge in an optimized manner to my country and future generations as I believe that knowledge gained is not complete until being shared. Furthermore, I will be opportune through *** scholarship to interact with other enthusiastic students from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds drawn from all over the world taking into cognizance the fact that the scholarship program is an international venture. The exposure is very important for interaction and sharing of multi cultural ideas and perspectives pertaining to different global economic as well as non-economic issues. I am aware that the scholarship is evidently competitive as it is well spelt out in the above requirements but I am confident that I am fit and well equipped to control any challenge that might come my way as I avail this competitive chance
However, as a result of limited financial ability, I have not being able to proceed with further studies here in Nigeria for the fact that I lack the required financial strength. I would seriously appreciate the opportunity of an available scholarship to advance my education and build a career in my dreamt field as I ardently believe that *** scholarship will be invaluably helpful in achieving this long life dream of mine. Thus, I strongly believe even as I humbly pledge to make the best out of the scholarship benefits. I promise to be more methodical as I efficiently optimize my stay at the prestigious university of ****to acquire an excellent and valuable wealth of ideas that is required for the smooth running of my country in various spheres as well as see to the development of my hosting country together with the university community.
