"A mentor" and " a coach" words meaning

Good morning everyone!

Is there a difference between "a mentor" and " a coach" words in meaning? Isn't a coach a mentor himself, or mentor is a coach  himself as well?

Thanks.

What you say is all true. But we usually think of a coach as someone who guides us in a particular activity - someone who helps us hone our skills. In my opinion, our relation with a mentor is more personal.

Hi,

Very broadly speaking, I'd say this.

coach - usually does things with us, helps us practice

mentor - usually talks to us, gives us advice

Thanks Avangi, thanks Clive you were too quick as it appeared!

Avangi, what i understood that a mentor is more personal for someone in comparison to coach, though they perform same activities. Slight difference, but it exists and not definite.

Clive, your thoughts added more light to that. The difference is in who talks to us and who does with us.

Hi,
I meant also to imply that the mentor's relationship was often not limited to one specific activity.
I should have made that clear.

Thanks Avangi for your addition,

Overall idea is that mentor is more personal for us and guides us in several activities.

I got it!
