A massive/serious stroke

He was partially paralyzed after a massive stroke.

Hi,
How serious is "a massive stroke" in the above? Is it about the same as "a serious stroke?" Thanks.

From my own subjective (and non-medical) point of view, a "massive stroke" sounds quite a bit worse than a "serious stroke".

I tend to agree with Yankee. One may survive a serious stroke (partially paralyzed), but I don't think one would survive a massive stroke.
