Is sentence 2 correct? If you don't want to state the exact amount how would you phrase it please?

I have $1000 worth of material in my bag.
I have a lot of money worth of material in my bag.

No, because in the expression "X worth of ...", the X part has to be a number and monetary unit.

You can reverse the order (and drop "of") if you don't have an exact number.

I have material worth a lot of money in my bag.
