A lot faster to take plane than train

Could you tell me if these is correctly worded and natural? Would you change anything? Is faster correct used like this?

Contrary to what people think, it’s not a lot faster to take the plane as opposed to the train. You have to get to the airport early. Take a cab into the city once you land if not the metro. When taking this into account, it’s almost faster to take the train at times.

Thank you
