I'll soon be a long way off from here. Sounds better with 'from'.

jolt in a sense of a quick drink, right? I never hear anyone use 'jolt' like this anymore.

I've never heard jolt used in this sense. I get it but I've never heard it. Is it a British expression or have I been left out of the loop?

Hi,

In some of the more 'colourful' bars in Mexico City, they have a car battery connected to two handles. You and your drinking pals compete, one after the other, to see who can hold them the longest.

That's another form of 'jolt'.

(And you pay money to do that)

We have Jolt Cola. They advertise, "Twice the caffiene and three times the sugar!"
