a long waiting period?

An appointment is set up to see a doctor approximately 3 weeks from now.

Is it OK to say, "the appointment has a long waiting period," or "the appointment has a long waiting time," or "the appointment is not that close/near" or "the appointment is quite far" ? Any other better suggestions?

Thanks,

My effort:

"The appointment is a long way off."

"The appointment was booked well in advance."

I think it might be okay to say, "I could be dead by then."

Hi, MrP.

Thanks for the suggestions.

What about my own efffort?

"the appointment has a long waiting period," or "the appointment has a long waiting time," or "the appointment is not that close/near" or "the appointment is quite far" ?

Dave, I guess you could say, "the doc might get sued by then too!"

Thanks for all the replies.

Hello M2L

I think your suggestions would all be understood; but they're not really idiomatic. (No hits on Google for any of them, for instance.)

Sorry!
