A long period of time

At the bus stop, I have been waiting for a bus for a long period of time. (For the more than an hour).

Is this correct sentence? in specific, for a long period of time. (Without specifying a length of time).

Top answer

kumenglish At the bus stop, I have been waiting for a bus for a long period of time. 'for a long period of time' is OK, but we normally omit 'period of'. Also, we generally don't say 'at the bus stop' if we mention that we're waiting for a bus.

  • kumenglish At the bus stop, I have been waiting for a bus for a long period of time.
  • 'for a long period of time' is OK, but we normally omit 'period of'.
  • Also, we generally don't say 'at the bus stop' if we mention that we're waiting for a bus.
  • We wouldn't be waiting somewhere else.
  • This is better: I have been waiting for a bus for a long time.
