A little question

Hi,I´m spanish guy who is trying to learnt english.I have one question for us.

Is this phrase correct?

I was going to say.......... "This is correct,I know it,but I´d like to know if that one means exactly the same. "I went to say..." ¿It´s correct or wrong?
