A little bit of or a little?

I live in Turkey and my and my English had this talk and I just can't let go. Is it proper English if I use "a little bit of" ?

I expect Anon means "me and my English teacher had this talk".

Anyway, "a little bit of" is fine in informal English. It is a common expression. "a little" is better in formal English.
