Are they correct?

He earned a little. -- looking at "a little" positively?

He earned little. -- looking at "little" negatively?

Are they the same or similar to these in terms of their application?

He earned a little money. -- I think it is looking at "a little" positively.

He earned little money. -- I think it is looking at "little: negatively.
