A lift/ride to/into town?

Hi

I'm wondering, is "lift" used in AmE?

Can you give me a lift to town?

Also, do you say 'into' or 'to' town?

Can you give me a ride/lift [into/to] town?
Can you drive/take me [into/to] town?

Thanks!

Lift and ride are both used in AmEng. My feeling is that into town means from the countryside. To town would be more like to the commercial center from another place in the city, as in 'downtown'.
