A letter of gratitude

Dear teachers,

could you please look at this letter and correct the mistakes, if there are any.
Thank you very much.

Following my recent trip to Japan, I would like to share some of my thoughts about the time I spent in your beautiful country and the welcome I received. It was an extraordinary and unique experience, for which I’m very grateful.
I spent two weeks travelling across Japan visiting Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima and the Mount Fuji area. My visit coincided with the cherry blossoming season that made my trip even more exciting. All over Japan, the people were extremely polite and friendly, only adding to the charm and hospitality of the country.
Interestingly, Japan was not my first choice, mainly due to high cost. But my chosen destination, China, proved to be a bureaucratic nightmare – getting a visa involved a lot of paperwork, inflexible working hours and, if that was not enough, invitation letter and pre-booked flight, which basically meant that in case of a decline I would lose all the money paid for the flight. Facing such a daunting prospect, I had to search for alternatives and turn to my old dream of visiting Japan. I did not think twice.
Japan met all my expectations. From entering the country to leaving, all went pretty smooth. As I mentioned above, the welcome was superb, the food was delicious, the transport efficient, the sights fascinating and the hospitality heart-warming. It seems that Japan is turning into a tourist magnet, using its rich cultural heritage and modern achievements, combined with the warmth of its people.
JR pass, I reckon, requires a few additional words. Inexpensive and super- efficient, it provides a fantastic value and ensures easy and quick transfer from place to place. Few countries treat their guests by offering significant discounts and Japan is one of them.
Summarizing, I would like to express my deep gratitude for the welcome I received. Those two weeks enabled me to recharge and broaden my horizon. That is something of extreme importance to a person like me whose work is very stressful. Japan has gained a one more friend and supporter in the world.

Sincerely,
