A letter cover which need a little correction

There is my cover letter for a summer internship. I am a French girl studying biology in an engineer school and I would really like to do my internship in an english speaking country !

This is my first english cover letter, I think there is a lot of mistakes so if someone could look at it, it would be great !

I am writing to you to express my interest and motivation in completing a two-to-three month summer internship in your research department. I have heard of ... by a student of my school, ....who did her internship last summer with ..... I have assisted to her presentation outlining what she did during her internship. After looking at the.... website, I was very interested in your research matters. Indeed gene regulation is a subject which interests me greatly and on which I have worked a lot this year.

I am currently in the 3rd year of a French engineer school called ..... The institution is specialized in biotechnology applied to industries and it has a five years undergraduate diploma course. During my studies, I have learnt how to work on a laboratory. My study program is very complete and includes among other things: microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. For my diploma, it is essential to have some international work experience and to discover other cultures. A placement in your research department would provide me with the ideal opportunity to work on a subject which interests me greatly and to expend my skills.
