They probably go to clubs, restaurants, cinemas and so on. (That's what we do here!

I guess you should ask somebody from the UK what they mean by "late night". Here, we don't even call it "night", but "evening"!

Seriously, it depends on the season.
In summer, on a Friday/Saturday "evening", we might have dinner in a pizzeria at about 21:30-22:00, then go somewhere to have a drink and later go to a club.
A lot of young people, in my hometown, used to finish off their night outside with a cappuccino and a croissant in a café at about 5:00 in the morning (that would be a traditional breakfast) ... This happened before the enforcement of new regulations which requested that clubs should be closed earlier than they used to.
I've never been able to do that.

Wow. I'm sure cafe owners were glad about the new regulations. Just one cup of cappucino and a coissant and their patrons hung out until dawn. They must have had been losing money.
