a kind of person(s)

a kind of person

a kind of persons

a type of disease

All correct? Or half of them are acceptable mistakes?

Thanks in advance!

They might all be found acceptable in some contexts, but just standing alone on the page in a list, those that end with a plural don't seem correct. I would not use a kind of + a plural. The reverse pattern seems less objectionable: kinds of + singular CJ

Hi Maple,

I seem to think we had a long thread about this, but I'm not sure where.

With "a kind" or "a type," use the singular.

EDIT: Sorry, I got a phone call between starting and posting.
