If I went to a green grocer's/farmer's market in the U.S. ,how could I ask for the price and quantities of the products? for instance:
Hi Sir,how much is the potato?
Hi Sir, how much is the kilo of potato?
Hi Sir, how much is half a kilo of potato?
Hi Sir, how much is a quarter of a kilo of potato?
The potato is
two dollars per kilo.
one dollar half a kilo.
fifty cents a quarter of a kilo.
I have no idea about this vocabulary;I just want to sound natural.
In the US, you won't find many people who know what a kilo is. Sweet potatoes or yams are sometimes sold individually. You can ask - how much does this potato cost?

Red potatoes, russet potatoes, Idaho potatoes and other types of baking potatoes are sold by the pound.
How much is a pound of potatoes?
anonymousHi Sir,
This combination of informal (hi) and extremely formal (sir) is not natural. It would be better if you left out both of these words. They make the sentence unnatural. If you need to attract an employee's attention, say "Excuse me" before you ask your question about the price of potatoes.
