Is that comma needed? That depends on what the intended meaning is.

Let's take a better example.
'I painted the sign(,) just like he had asked me to.'

With the comma, it means 'He asked me to paint the sign, so I did.'
Without the comma, it means 'I painted the sign to look just like he wanted it to look.'

Going back to your sentence and assuming there is only one way to pull the lever, it's (more) correct with the comma.
