Hello,

In a sentence, such as "It's been a long time since I last saw you".
Why do you have to have "a" in front of the word, "long"?

inelements Why do you have to have "a" in front of the word, "long"? You have to use the indefinite article 'a ' there, maybe, because you're talking about a non-specific or indefinite time from the past up to now.

Thank you for your reply. So, time is countable??

Time can be countable or uncountable.

In a context like yours, it is countable.
Consider. You are specifying a long time, not eg a short time, not eg a medium time.
