a homeless shelter

Maria donated her old clothes to a homeless shelter.

Hi,
Is it the same to say "a homeless sanctuary/refuge/home" instead of "a homeless shelter" in the above? Thanks.

I agree with GG. Sanctuary and refuge seem to indicate flight for political or religious reasons, and home seems contradictory.
