A highly technical marketing term

What's the term in e-Commerce marketing that refers to the strategy of attracting user influx?
I've checked out a lot of resources in my own language and they indicated that it's a very common device for web site runners. But I have found zero matching result in English, though.

Any idea please?

And please, do not reply if you're not sure about the answer.
Thanks!:)

Yeah, without knowing anything much about the subject, I would have thought that "attracting user influx" was the aim of pretty much every e-Commerce marketing strategy.

Thank you, that's very detailed!
But is there an umbrella term for all these?
Thank you!
