A higher register of 'to crash (a party'

Hi all

I am struggling to find a word that is akin to 'to crash (an event e.g. party)' but has a higher register.

The scene I am trying to describe is this. In the film Strictly Ballroom, the value of multiculturalism is explored when Scott 'crashes' Fran's family's fiesta.

Thank you

You can say "arrives uninvited at" but "crashes" seems fine there. Does a movie in which feathers form a major part of the wardrobe really need a higher register? I loved that one, as well as Pricilla, Queen of the Desert.

Thanks for replying GG. You're right. It doesn't deserve to be discussed soberly in an essay.Emotion: big smile

Exactly. Furthermore, does the rude activity in question really deserve a "higher register"? Anything
