If I want to write a greeting to my friend, is it correct and natural to say,

"How are you? How's everything going?"

If I want to write a greeting to my friend, is it correct and natural to say,

"How are you? How's everything going?" These are fine in this situation.

"How's your romance thing with John?" I would replace the word "thing" with "going" leaving "How is your romance with John going?"
