A Giant; Somebody; Grownup Prodigy?

I'm looking for a word that would describe an extraordinary person, a person who truly and unequivocally stands out, in any field, but especially in politics. Good or bad, it's all the same: Somebody (with a capital S), someone compared to whom most people in the same field are run-of-the-mill non-entities; a super-colorful individual who is quoted often (with admiration or derision, it's all the same). Someone whose demise would leave no one indifferent (some would grieve while some others would rejoice, but no one would say, "So? Who cares!")

FDR, Churchill, Stalin, Hitler, de Gaulle, etc, etc - examples of such people. Queen Elizabeth, George III, George Washington, etc, etc.

And yet, with the exception of specialists, people remember JFK, and not Bobby, because JFK was a [the word I'm looking for], and Bobby was not.

Some would say that among today's political figures, only Donald Trump makes the grade (sort of, just barely).

What would you call a person of that kind?

True. But not too many people would instantly remember this, and you wouldn't want to explain it to them each time you're about to call someone like Hitler a titan. The word "Tit
