a function of present

00I think you can say that one main function of the present is to express events or situations that exist always, usually, or habitually. OK, but I think it also is used to see the actions being made in a story. Can you tell me why is it used in such a situation and how good is it as a grammatical medium?02br

00This is not an unusual literary technique. Basically, the present tense is employed to make the reader feel as though he/she is right there with the author, witnessing the action as it happens.0-
