Vocabulary

A full v.s. full

Hi,

Could you tell me which sentence a native speaker is more likely to utter?

1. It took him a full twenty minutes to conclusively decide on the case.

2. It took him full twenty minutes to conclusively decide on the case.

In fact I've seen a couple of times such use of "a", but grammar-wise it irkes me to see "a" preceding a word in plural (minutes)

Thanks!
