A fruit or fruit

Hi. Should it be the word "fruit" or the words "a fruit" for what supposed to be simple definitions of the word "raspberry" below? For the ellipted part in numbers 1 and 2, let's assume some appropriate descriptive words are there. Thank you in advance for your help.
