a free/available table

Hello,
Is this table free sounds fine to me, but for some reason "Is the table in the corner available?" sounds a little odd. There are only two available tables in the restaurant. This one sounds odd to me as well. I think that free fits this context best, but it might be a little too informal. What do you suggest?

Yes, both terms are fine, but in:
There are only two available tables in the restaurant I would say two tables available.
