Letter Writing

A formal letter

Can anyone check my letter?

The task is that I have seen an advertisement for a weekend job as a local tour guide showing the visitors around my city. Write a letter of application to the tourism office.

In the letter give your reasons for wanting the job; explain why you think you can do the job; describe any relevant experience you have.

Write at least 150 words.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have seen an advertisement for a job in the local newspaper.

I want this job, because I want to make people to be interested in the history of our city and to awake their desire to come back here. There is also true, that I need to pay for my Maths lessons and it is worth to have extra money.

I have been living here for 10 years and know every street, every corner and every story about this place. Also, I have studied the Tourism course in the university and I am really interested in this subject, that is why I have a huge desire to expand my knowledge.

I have had some experience with being a guide. For example, I showed the city for the hosts, who visited my university, from abroad. I always act as a tour guide for my friends and their friends. For these reasons I think I can do this job.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully,

...

As I know when we start a letter with Dear Sir/Madam, we usually end it with Yours Faithfully. Though, in the English book for IELTS, the letter ends with Yours Sincerely. Isn't it the mistake?

Oh, thanks.

By the way, we say 'the advertisement' in this case (not 'an advertisement'), because the addressee and I, we both, exactly know what advertisement I talk about, right?
