'A first' or 'the first'

This is a first post to announce the new brand to our valued community.

Please explain the use of 'a first' as I always saw it to be 'the first'.

Thanks.

sundarnaz Please explain the use of 'a first' as I always saw it to be 'the first'. Perhaps there will be another first post on another website, for instance, or another person will place his/her first post on this one.. At least, that is what is implied by the use of that article.
