A figure of speech

The word I am looking for is a figure of speech like oxymoron, hyperbole, misnomer.

I can't explain it very well so I will give an example.

In the sentence "world of men", men would mean all human beings. So this one word usually is used as a substitute for large group of people belonging to a particular class. I this case man refers to women, children, old people.

First,"world of men" is not a sentence. It is a noun phrase which can be used in a sentence. Also, the meaning you attributed to it is not my understanding.

Mrs. Thatcher thrived in a world of men. (Most all strong political figures were men at the time.)
