a few things i do not understand.

Hello, I have 2 concerns.

1)I was wondering if this sentence is grammatically correct:

"They both knew who eachother was."

2)Is it correct if one says that an inanimate object is nostalgic? For instance, can one say "That lamp is nostalgic", or is it only for people?

Thanks for your help.

) The combination of 'both' and 'each other' makes this sentence seem very odd, because it's trying simultaneously to talk about the people as a pair and as individuals.. Better to say something like this: They knew each other. They each knew who the other was.

Hi,

1) "They both knew who eachother was."
(Each other is two words.) The combination of 'both' and 'each other' makes this sentence seem very odd, because it's trying simultaneously to talk about the people as a pair and as individuals.. Better to say something like this:

They knew each other.

They each knew who the other was.
