A few sentences to correct

Hello,
I am writing a few essays and I have some problems with the following sentences:

The/A whole family was invited and everybody came.

What is interesting I did not expect that he was/is such a funny joke teller.
(if it's still true, could I use ‘is'?)

It is a unique event in the/a life of every human.

By/for comparison, nowadays...

In my opinion, the situation is getting worse and worse because the/- relationships are not strong enough. The/A conversation does not have a concrete reason, is not genuine. (I am describing the current world)
The/A conversation between people is not genuine.

Greek weddings are deeply rooted in -/the Greek tradition.

Now you are well prepared for going to the party/ to go to the party!

to have distinctive cheek bones

He was called Tom (is it ok, meaning ‘his name was Tom'?)

What was painful to me, he had an affair.

Alexander Graham Bell said (...) and he was right.
If we quote the words of an alive person, should we say:
"has said" and ‘he has been right'.

I would be grateful, if you helped me with the sentences.
Thank you!
Anne
