A few questions about tenses

1.(the photo of cartoon strips "Snoopy" I took from newspaper : http://ppt.cc/t8Y4)

Where's my beach ball?
I came to the lake to enjoy myself. And right away my beach ball
disappears!

I wonder why Charlie Brown says"... my beach ball disappears!" When
he finds the ball is gone, the ball is not already there. Should he say
"disappeared!" to suggest that the ball disappeared before he notice it?

2.(the conversation between a girl pitcher and the catcher
Schroeder: http://ppt.cc/IpnS , http://ppt.cc/QYbx)

Hi! I hear you're my catcher.

I come clear across town to play ball. And who do I get for a
catcher?

Before the girl sees the catcher, Charlie "told" her the name of the catcher. Therefore, I wonder why she doesn't say "I heard..." ? Since she was told the name of the catcher before she sees him.

Thank you for your help, and I appreciate your teaching. I also wonder why Charlie says "I came to the lake..." in Q1., yet the gril Patty says "I come clear across..." in Q2 ? Shouldn't she say "I came... " ?
