A few corrections

Can I say,

(a) He helped to dig a hole to put the flowers in the garden.

(b) He helped father to clean the garden.

Grammatically two sentences are correct and expressed what you wanted to say . But if I would have to say I would say Vincent Teo Can I say, (a) He helped to dig a hole to plant the flower trees or embed some plants of flowers in the garden. (b) He helped his father to clean the garden.
