A feat to talk

A. I had a fear of being unaccepted until I forged my way into an acceptable life. I had a fear to talk until I learned to speak once I had something to say worth hearing .I had a fear of death or that of an empty life until I died and came back to a full life ...

I found example A on Google.

The question is that I'm not sure whether "to talk" in "I had a fear to talk" modifies "a fear".

Does this infinitive phrase "to talk" modifies the noun phrase "a fear"?

Hi

At first, it sounds strange to my ear but, yes, I think that's ok. I would probably use 'fear of..' followed by an -ing verb, but I think either is acceptable:

- At one time, I suffered from social anxiety and had a fear of talking to other people. Quite simply, I had a fear to talk.

Yes, I think it works in either form

It's "fear of talking", and "of talking" is the complement of "fear".
