A fan of [her/hers]

Hello,

Question 1:
Which of the following is correct?

1. I'm a fan of her.
2. I'm a fan of hers.

I read somewhere that #2 is correct but I've seen people often use #1.

Question 2:
I also don't understand the meaning of #2 well. Which of the following is its correct meaning?

I'm a fan of "her fans" (I am one of her fans)
Or
I'm a fan of her works,

Thanks.

When you say "I'm a fan of hers", it means that you are a fan of the person himself/herself. For instance, you like Lady Gaga and you are a fan of her music, you can say "I'm a fan of hers." It doesn't mean that you are a fan of her fans (Little Monsters) but Lady Gaga herself.

For me it sounds like "I'm another one of her fans"; "I'm one fan of hers (meaning all of her fans)".

i.e. Whose fans are those? They are her fans. They are hers.

For me it sounds like "I'm another one of her fans". Like an answer to the question:

"Whose fans are those?". "Those are her fans" "Those are hers" and "I am one of them".
