A dressing party//masquerade

I was attending a dressing party last week when I met a girl dressed beautifully.

Hi,

Is "a dressing party" in the above equal to "masquerage?" If not, what are the alternatives of masquerade? Thanks.

I have no idea what a 'dressing party' might be. It is not a generally understood term. From the rest of the context, I would suppose that it is just a gathering of girls displaying their newest fashions.
