a direct antithesis to the main clauses...

I have problem with the second part of the following paragraph. I hope someone can help me with it:

"The linguist Laura Wright has remarked that Wentworth’s hotographs
of incidental street life are the visual equivalent of the many expressions of meaning possible in the interjection ‘oh’. This is a direct antithesis to the main clauses and cascade of subordinate clauses that make up the grammar and syntax of scientific and rational thinking but ought to be regarded as quite as significant as an observation on the physical world."

Does "This is a direct antithesis..." is talking about Wentworth's photographs or the interjection ‘oh’?

Can you please explain what it wants to say? with an example please?

oh, I got it! Now, I can understand what it wants to express. So, does"main clauses and cascade of subordinate clauses that make up the grammar and syntax of scientific and rational thinking" simply mean the grammar and syntax that dominates the world of science and rational thinking?
