A DIME A DOZEN

Hi,
I would like to know the meaning of this expression here:

'But the small clubs like the Three Deuces, also attracted hustlers and fast living pimps with plenty of whores, hipsters, and drug dealers. I mean, these kinds of people both black and white were A DIME A DOZEN on The Street.'

Thanks in advance, Jo.

It means that there were quite a lot of these people. When something is rare, you have to pay a large amount of money to get it. If you can find it everywhere, then it's cheap: "a dime a dozen".
