I found this phrase "a degree of stress" in M-W's Col. Dic. 'Stress' isn't a countable noun, I mean someone can't have two 'stresses'. Then, why is M-W an indefinite article "a" with it?
Top answer
Hi, Because you can have a degree of stres Jus like a glass of water. Clive
