A custom-made jewelry item

I have made up an example below.

(ex) My aunt will be celebrating her eightieth birthday in three weeks. I want to order a custom-made jewelry item as her birthday gift.

My non-native English speaking friends think "a custom-made jewelry item" sounds wrong. I don't know if they are sure or not.
