A couple of questions

Hello I have a video about a prosthetic foot and I have a hard time understanding some of the terms, I would appreciate any help in the matter, thank you.


1) What is the meaning of brake in effect? in 1:26?

I don't know if it is braking effect or brake in effect? and what is the meaning?


2) my gates much smoother in 3:00? what are gates?
