a couple of leads

Dear teachers,

I haven't found a job yet, but I've got a couple of leads.

What does "leads" mean here?

Please advise.

leads - pieces of information which may lead to finding a job, for example, the names and/or phone numbers of a few hiring managers who are looking for someone with the skills you have, or the name of an employment agency which may be able to facilitate your search. Any such information which has the potential of leading to finding a job can be called a lead. CJ
